ORMOC CITY – A murder case was filed against San Isidro, Leyte Mayor Remedio Balmoria Veloso alias Bebot, brother of the mayor Emmanuel Balmoria Veloso alias Wing-wing, Pcpl. Manuelito B. Sidaya alias Opaw and Pcpl. Jhundy Lucero.
This case is related to the shooting incident which led to the death of Audie Jesus De Veyra on April 21, 2021, around eleven o’clock at night in Barangay Abanilla, Calubian, Leyte.
This case was filed by Lorraine V. De Veyra, sister of the victim, who hails from Barangay Villahermosa, Calubian, Leyte.
In Lorraine De Veyra’s Judicial Complaint Affidavit, she pointed Mayor Bebot Veloso, Wing-wing Veloso, Manuelito Sidaya and Jhundy Lucero are the killers of her brother. The suspects were positively identified by De Veyra’s witnesses Zello M. Veloso and Emmanuel M. Veloso who both executed a Judicial Affidavit to prove the crime committed.
She also said that the family of the victim did not file a complaint against the respondent because of fear for their lives, knowing that the assailants were powerful.
Based on the testimony of the witnesses, the victim Audie Jesus De Veyra is the strongest Political Leader of Alan Ang, the former board member of the 3rd District of Leyte and the former mayor of San Isidro, Leyte. Ang is known as the political rival of Mayor Bebot Veloso.
In the 2019 election, Mayor Bebot Veloso won the Mayoralty race by a one-vote lead against Susan Ang, the wife of Alang Ang. If you remember, Mayor Bebot Veloso, Wing-wing Veloso, Manuelito Sidaya, and Cayetano B. Dagandan III alias “Tanny” are also facing murder charges for the murder of the former Municipal Administrator of San Isidro, Leyte, Levi Aporbo Mabini alias “Bambam ” on May 8, 2019 in Barangay Capiñahan, San Isidro, Leyte.
